Wellbeing Overview

Student wellbeing is at the forefront of our school philosophy at Flowerdale Primary School. We recognise the importance of when a child’s wellbeing needs are met, learning comes naturally, therefore we are committed to enhancing the mental health and physical wellbeing of our school community. This is done by incorporating various programs into our curriculum that contribute to the development of social, emotional and personal safety skills. This includes our breakfast club, lunch time clubs and our buddy bench program. Our systems for behaviour management and recognition of student behaviours in a positive manner through SWPBS and Respectful Relationships also contribute to the wellbeing of our students, staff and wider community.

In 2024, as well as introducing our new school values, we launched Zones of Regulation as our social and emotional program to support student regulation in conjunction with 16 Habits of Mind. Additionally, our wellbeing staff are trained facilitators of Peaceful Kids and Be Happy Be Healthy Social Emotion Learning to ensure each student's needs are met. Over the next two years all our staff will be trained on the Berry St Education Model which assists implementing trauma informed practices.

At Flowerdale Primary School we provide children with Tier 1, 2 and 3 supports to ensure every student has the opportunities to explore, discover and learn to their potential and personal goals. Flowerdale Primary School strives to capacity build our students to understand their own potential to ensure opportunities are limitless.
