Welcome to Flowerdale Primary School. My name is Meg James, and I am very excited and honoured to have joined the school community as Acting Principal.
I feel incredibly privileged to be part of such a welcoming and close-knit school community. My background is in educational leadership, student wellbeing, inclusion and school improvement, with a strong passion for creating learning environments where every child feels safe, valued, supported and able to succeed. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with students, staff and families to strengthen wellbeing, inclusion, engagement and learning outcomes through positive relationships and strong whole-school practices. |
When I am not at work, I love spending time with my family. I am a proud parent to my three children — Rebecca, Matthew and Luke — and have recently become a grandmother to a beautiful little girl, which has been a very special and exciting new chapter in my life. I also have a wonderful partner, Brad. Family is at the heart of who I am, and it is one of the reasons I value the strong sense of connection and community that schools like Flowerdale Primary School provide for students and families.
What immediately stood out to me about Flowerdale Primary School is the strong sense of community, care and connection that exists across the school. Small school communities provide a unique opportunity to truly know every child and family, and I am looking forward to building strong relationships with students, staff and the wider community throughout my time at the school.
I strongly believe that wellbeing and learning go hand in hand, and that every child should feel known, valued and supported. Creating a strong sense of belonging for all students and families is something I value deeply, as I believe children thrive when they feel connected to their school and community. I am passionate about developing the whole child — supporting not only academic growth, but also confidence, resilience, creativity, social connection and the skills needed to thrive in the world beyond school.
I also deeply value partnerships with families and the wider community and believe schools are strongest when we work together with shared trust, communication and care for children. I look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships across the Flowerdale community and getting to know each of you along the way.
Thank you for the warm welcome I have already received. I am genuinely excited to be part of the Flowerdale Primary School community and look forward to working together to support our students and celebrate the many strengths of the school.
Warm regards,
Meg James
