2026 Enrolment Information

 

The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

If you wish to enrol a student in years 1-6, please complete the application form below and submit to the school office.

 

Information on how to find, enrol, and start a child in your care at a school in Victoria is available on the Victorian government website.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Flowerdale Primary School.

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2026 at Flowerdale Primary from 22 April 2025.

 

What you need to do:

  1. Contact our school office on 5780 1264 to book a school tour or to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process. You can also email the school to book in a tour or submit your enrolment application at flowerdale.ps@education.vic.gov.au
  2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).
  3. Submit an Application to Enrol in a Victorian Government School for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 25 July 2025.
  4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 8 August 2025. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 22 August 2025 and collect an enrolment pack.
  5. Submit the enrolment pack and additional required documents.
  6. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2025.
  7. Your child will start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 29 January 2026.

 

Enrolment applications submitted after 25 July 2025 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

 

 

School Tours

 

Please note, that school tours are available at any stage throughout the year. To book a school tour, you can call our office on 5780 1264 and arrange a tour with our Acting Principal, Stephanie Marcanio. 

 

 

Enrolments

 

If you are interested in enrolling at our school, please download and electronically complete an Enrolment Form, returning it to flowerdale.ps@education.vic.gov.au. Alternatively, an enrolment form may be requested from our school office either in person or by calling 5780 1264.

 

Our school follows the Department of Education’s Enrolment Policy for the enrolment, placement, and transfer of students.

Students who live within the school zone are guaranteed a place at our school. To find out whether you live in zone, visit Find My School.

 

All other applications will be considered subject to available space, and prioritised according to:

  1. students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time
  2. all other students in order of proximity of their home to the school.

  • your contact details
  • emergency contact details
  • health information about your child (such as allergies or illnesses they need to manage)
  • other legal orders relating to your child and their welfare (if any).

 

Prep/Foundation Enrolment

 

Starting school is an exciting time for children, parents and carers. We want to help make the enrolment process as easy as possible for you.  Each year, the department releases the Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents/Carers, with information packs available from the beginning of Term 2 for students commencing foundation/prep the following year. These information packs, and other important information, can be found on the Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) page of the Victorian Government website.

 

 

Transition

 

At Flowerdale Primary School we run an exciting and engaging transition program to get your child ready for Primary School. Please contact the school to register your interest even if you are thinking of enrolling elsewhere. We would love to offer our advice and support.

 

Each child will go through many transitions in their school experiences. At Flowerdale Primary School we pride ourselves on ensuring that these transitions are as smooth as possible, with each child being supported and fully prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.

 

We are fortunate to have the Flowerdale Kindergarten on the same site as our school. This ensures that kindergarten children are fully prepared for their Foundation year at school because they have already had many visits to our F-1 classroom throughout the year. They will visit our F-1 regularly and the Foundation students will also enjoy return visits back to their kinder.

 

 

Year 7 Enrolment

 

Enrolling your child in Year 7 is an important part of their education journey. We want to help you make the transition process as easy as possible. Each year, the department releases Year 6 to Year 7 placement information for schools and for parents/carers, with information packs available from the beginning of Term 2 for students commencing Year 7 the following year. School Zones

 

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.

Students residing in our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. Our school also has additional capacity available to welcome students who are outside of our school zone.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.
